ORTHODONTICS (YOUNG ASPEN)
As early as age seven, a child will begin to experience changes with their teeth. Baby teeth will come out, gaps and spaces may be more apparent, and you’ll begin to question whether or not braces are the right option for your child.
Each child comes with his or her own unique dental and facial makeup that needs to be monitored over time. Dr. Ravneet recommends that a child has their first Orthodontic exam around the age of seven. Scheduling an appointment around this point in your child’s life is perfect to start to evaluate their facial growth patterns and teeth maturation.
At Aspen Orthodontics, your child will be invited to become a member of Dr. Ravneet’s Kids Club, which offers free checkups with Dr. Ravneet every 6 months for continued monitoring of growth. During these checkups, your child will receive new x-rays and diagnostics which will help Dr. Ravneet evaluate their unique facial pattern for proper balance, symmetry, and growth. Your child will also have the opportunity to develop a relationship with Dr. Ravneet, and begin to feel comfortable with the Aspen Orthodontics team before actual treatment is needed.
Some signs or habits that may indicate the need for an early orthodontic treatment are:
INVISALIGN /CLEAR ALIGNERS
Nothing is more important as a genuine and heartfelt smile. Feeling comfortable with your smile can make you happier and more relaxed – as well as making a great impression.
If you have ever thought about improving your smile, Invisalign® might be right for you. Invisalign is an invisible way to straighten your teeth. It works through a series of clear, removable and comfortable aligners over a course of several months, allowing you to have the smile you always wanted without traditional metal braces…
If the thoughts of traditional metal braces to straighten your teeth don’t sound appealing, you’ll be glad to know you aren’t out of options. Lingual braces provide an alternative that is changing the world of orthodontics.
SELF LIGATION SYSTEM/FAST BRACES
Self-ligating braces are braces that use little metal doors to hold the wires instead of elastic ties. There are many companies that advertise different names for these braces. The most popular self-ligating braces are Damon, 3M Clarity SL, Speed System, and In-Ovation. These types of braces have been around for more than 20 years, but they have recently gained popularity as Fast bracket systems which are frictionless.
Ceramic Braces/ Clear Braces
Ceramic braces can be a beautiful alternative to metal braces if your orthodontist recommends them.
Ceramic braces were introduced back in the 1980s when the idea for less visible braces came about. Contrary to popular belief, ceramic brackets are tough and don’t stain as easily as they used to thanks to continuing product development and technological advances.
TRADITIONAL METAL BRACES
Traditional metal braces/ Colored braces are the best option for aligning your smile and improving dental health. While it may not be the quickest method or the most cutting-edge on advanced technology, it has made advances in recent years. The typical “traditional” treatment is not the same as it was 10, or even 5, years ago. While some of the experiences may be similar, the materials are now stronger and more resilient to standard wear and tear.
